The Bank has been supporting the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra’s* National Day Concert since 2009, to contribute to the development of art and culture. It was the 7th consecutive year for the Bank to sponsor the event in 2015. On the day of event, 26th September, the National Day Concert began with Tchaikovsky’s immortal Piano Concerto no. 1, by the emerging piano star Niu Niu (real name: Zhang Shengliang), continued with 2 Chinese folk songs by Hong Kong’s own vocal genius Louise Kwong, and conductor Rachel Jiemin Zhang has directed a lovely Chinese orchestral work. The local and Chinese music talents joint to celebrate the 66th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.

*The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra is the first founded professional Western music orchestra in Hong Kong, established in 1895, under the name Sino-British Orchestra, renamed as the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 1957, and became a professional orchestra in 1974.
